[post_content] => Linda Wicks is the new chair of the Society board, taking over from Judith Kiely who is stepping down after two years.

Linda, a homeopath with more than 30 years' experience, was selected at the board meeting on April 11.

After qualifying as a homeopath in 1986, Linda started her own part-time practice in Truro, Cornwall, running it in parallel with other roles, including teaching and lecturing and a 16-year stint as education advisor to the Society.

She helped to establish one of the first school-based integrated health centres in the country, designed to make health care and the promotion of wellbeing more accessible for young people, and is also chair of the British Acupuncture Council's accreditation board.

Linda said: "I am delighted to have been appointed to the role of chair. I have worked with the Society for several years in different roles and am looking forward to collaborating with the staff, board and committees to help shape its direction. I’d also like to thank Judith Kiely for her hard work and commitment as chair for the past two years."

There were some important challenges ahead but also opportunities, she added.

"There is a chance now for us to contribute to some of the key debates arising in the public health arena, particularly around the wellbeing agenda and antibiotic resistance.

"I am also keen to support members’ confidence in building thriving, professional practices. We need to keep talking and sharing ideas, taking every opportunity to meet up with each other and to embrace new ways to move forward."

At the same board meeting, Richard O'Quinn was selected as vice-chair. Richard, a management consultant, is a specialist in organisational development and governance and is a trustee of the British Homeopathic Association.
