CAM recognised by Portugal healthcare system

    [post_content] => Complementary and alternative therapies (CAM) are now legally part of the healthcare system in Portugal.

The new legislation states that the exercise of unconventional therapies (the term used for CAM in Portugal) is regulated by law, carried out in an integrated manner with conventional treatments and in order to ensure the protection of public health the quality of care and based on the best scientific evidence.

The ministry responsible for health is responsible for the accreditation and supervision and of the practice of unconventional therapies, according to the definition approved by the World Health Organization.
