[post_content] => MP and homeopathy champion David Tredinnick has urged the Government to follow the example of India and China and develop a 'robust' approach to zero-carbon medicines and sustainable healthcare.

“At the moment, one third of the world’s population already has, in part, a sustainable healthcare system,” he told the House of Commons.

“China has a population of 1.4 billion and India has 1.3 billion; China has 65,000 hospitals that use zero-carbon treatments in the shape of acupuncture. They also use traditional Chinese herbal medicine which has a carbon footprint close to zero.

“India is light years ahead,” he added. “Not only does it have a family health ministry, it has a sustainable health ministry which has seen its budget increase four times in the last six years.”

David, who is stepping down at the General Election after 32 years as the Conservative MP for Bosworth, said it was a mystery to him that the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care did not take note of what was happening in other parts of the world.
