[post_content] => Selina Hatherley and Linda Wicks have been elected to the Society of Homeopaths board.

They came top of the poll, which was postal vote-only, narrowly beating Margaret Kincade and Sue Crump.

The full results were:

Selina Hatherley: 117

Linda Wicks: 115

Sue Crump: 107

Margaret Kincade: 102

Selina (pictured above left), a practising homeopath for almost 20 years, joins the board for the first time. She brings specialist knowledge from her years in running a clinic for people with drug, alcohol and mental health problems as well as from her role heading the team at SidebySide, a clinic supporting the community at Grenfell Tower in London.

Linda (above right) will be serving her second term as a board director. She has practised in Cornwall since qualifying in 1986, has held staff roles with the Society and was recently involved in setting up one of the first school-based Integrated Health Centres in the country, designed to make health care and promotion of wellbeing more accessible for young people.

Members were able to quiz all four candidates during the election in an online forum this year for the first time. The range of topics covered included improving public perceptions of homeopathy, ideas for new campaigns, the role of the Society in research and accreditation for colleges.

The two will join the other directors on the nine-member board and serve for three years.

Society Chief Executive Mark Taylor said the election had been well supported and the innovation of the online forum had encouraged more members to engage in the debates with candidates.

'We are delighted that Selina and Linda will be joining the board and are grateful to all four candidates for putting themselves forward for this important role.

I would also like to pay tribute to the work Sue Crump has put in over the years on behalf of the Society - as a member, Fellow, member of staff, Chair and Board member.  Her contribution and commitment has been huge and we will miss her energy and knowledge.

Board members bring a range of experience and skills to the table to support the Society's work in lobbying, advocacy and policy-making, as well as holding the Society itself to account. There are some significant challenges ahead of us and Society members can have confidence now that its leadership is well equipped to meet them."

The election attracted the highest turn out rate since 2015 with 23% of members casting a vote.
