The future of the Society and current issues facing the profession shaped the first meeting of the new board of Directors following the AGM in Oxford in March.
Members of the board congregated in Northamptonshire to discuss the way forward and formulated plans for a new Communication Committee to strengthen the Society's important work in public affairs with an increased emphasis on advocating on behalf of homeopathy.
Following a recruitment drive to committees and sub committees, half of the places have been filled by members new to the groups as well as four new lay members and a patient. The Communication Committee is made up of seven RSHoms and is chaired by Board member Sue Crump.
Further internal Board elections resulted in Judith Kiely being elected Chair for 2017/8. Judith has been a lay member of the Board for 3 years. Hilary Fairclough RSHom is to be the Vice Chair and Linda Wicks RSHom is to be the Board nominee on the Professional Standards Committee which is also largely made up of new members.
Mark Taylor CEO said "a profession is only as strong as the commitment of its members and supporters and we have made a very determined effort to bring on the next generation of RSHoms who are going to steer the Society for next few years. We hope this new cohort will add energy and vitality at a time when the homeopathic sector most needs it.”
