Michael Bird to explore the history of delusion

In November the Society of Homeopath’s winter workshop ‘All in the Mind,’ will focus on mental health and help practitioners to feel more comfortable treating some of the more complex issues that arise.

Michael Bird will be joining us to explore the history of delusions in psychiatry and homeopathy including the types and themes of delusions. rubrics and corresponding materia medica to common delusions in psychiatry will be provided. In addition, Michael will look at the language of delusions in the repertory including a modern view.

Michael is Co-Principal at South Downs School of Homeopathy, located at Chichester University. He has worked for ‘Homeopathy in the Sussex Community’ (HISC), delivering low-cost homeopathic clinics to marginalised groups across Sussex; working with mental health and homelessness providers. Michael facilitated a weekly mental health clinic for over seven years at the ‘Wellbeing Hub at Preston Park’, Brighton. His recent project involved delivering a pilot clinic at a homelessness charity in Hove.

Michael will be joined by Elizabeth Adalian and Gabby Arthur to explore PTSD, a better understanding of delusional states and the meanings of the rubrics necessary to help identify the similimum more easily.
