[post_content] => Saturday 30 April was a first for the Society – our first one day, international summit.

With 140 practitioners from around the world, gathered together online, we were welcomed by Society CEO Corinne Stuart.

Our first speaker Dr Lindsay Browning woke us up.

A chartered psychologist, neuroscientist, author and sleep expert, Dr Browning talked about how sleep is vital for our immune system.   How we need sleep for growth, and to consolidate what we learn. She spoke about the effects of sleep deprivation, and how we are all different in our sleep needs.

We were all wide awake for our next speaker, fellow homeopath Anthony Bickley RSHom, who looked at helping the immune system with the bowel nosodes.

Many of us have seen Anthony present, and enjoy his relaxed, friendly presentation.

Anthony differentiated the individual bowel nosodes, by looking at their ability to adapt, and their reaction to change – whether they are active or passive, then matching this to the disease process. He looked at some auto immune disease conditions, and related the bowel nosode remedy pictures.

Our final speaker of the morning, nutritionist Dr Marilyn Glenville, presented us with masses of useful information about supplements, herbal support, and nutritional advice for supporting our immunity.

I took copious notes, but am glad the whole summit is available to watch again here on our website, to fill in any gaps.

The morning was ended with an opportunity for delegates to ask questions to the speakers in a Q&A session.

After lunch, Peter Jackson-Maine gave us a view of immunity from a herbalist’s point. It was very interesting to see how many of the homeopathic remedies we use such as Berberis and Crataegus, are used in their plant form.

Peter gave lots of practical advice about using herbal supplements safely, and reminded us that the terrain is everything.

We were treated to a fascinating presentation from Dr Ron Whitmont a homeopath MD. Dr Whitmont spoke to us from the USA, about immunity and the microbiome,

and the importance of bacterial diversity in relation to the severity of illness, and immune inflammatory response.

Many of us learned a new word – holobiont; an assemblage of a host and the many other species living in or around it, which together form a discrete ecological unit. He explained that the two most studied holobionts are the human body, and coral reefs….fascinating.

Our final speaker of the day, also in the USA, was homeopath Manfred Mueller, talking about homeopathy and allergies. Giving examples of acute cases and remedies, he also talked about susceptibility, and the ‘immune imbalance which leads to allergic reactions.’

Delegates joined in the Q&A session after, with the speakers.

The summit was a great success, sharing knowledge, not just with fellow homeopaths, but integrating with other therapies. Showing what true holistic support, complementary medicine can give.
