After a decade-long career in sustainability investing and social impact, I decided to change career and study psychology. However, soon after beginning an MSc at King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, I started experiencing headaches. Intermittent at first, they became persistent.
I was diagnosed with New Daily Persistent Headache (NDPH), a condition that can be difficult to manage, and shortly afterwards with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), an abnormal immune response. I explored a wide range of approaches, from acupuncture to antidepressants, from repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation to neurofeedback.
During this time I discovered homeopathy. Of all the approaches I tried, it was one that I personally found helpful. I am not here to suggest that homeopathy is a cure. It did not resolve my headaches overnight. A combination of lifestyle changes, ongoing psychotherapy, medication, complementary approaches and supplements has supported my overall wellbeing, and I am still on that journey. However, I found that homeopathy helped ease some of my symptoms, making day-to-day life more manageable and giving me a renewed sense of hope. This is a personal experience. Outcomes from homeopathy may vary from person to person.
