Selina Hatherley : Celebrating Homeopathy Awareness Week

Homeopathy Awareness Week is the time to celebrate and share the many amazing health benefits homeopathy has to offer.

Society Chair of the Board Selina Hatherley RSHom reports on her attendance and presentation at the London College of Homeopathy’s celebrations for Samuel Hahnemann’s birthday and World Homeopathy Day.

On 10 April, I was very pleased to be invited to speak at the London College of Homeopathy’s celebrations for Samuel Hahnemann’s birthday and World Homeopathy Day, held at the House of Lords.

The event brought together homeopaths from the UK and overseas, representatives from the Faculty and H-UK and our own FSHom, Dr Farokh Master. It provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate both the profession and the graduation of a new group of LCH students.  In my speech, I congratulated the graduates on their achievement and reflected on the dedication required to study homeopathy. Speaking about the importance of professionalism, integrity and ethical practice, I encouraged them to see graduation not only as the completion of their studies, but as the beginning of their ongoing development as practitioners.

The celebrations continued with lunch, tea, and beautiful views across London and the Thames, making it a warm and memorable occasion.

The following day, I was delighted to speak at the LCH conference, whose theme was Harmony with Homeopathy: Healing Beyond Borders. In my presentation, I reflected on the development of a homeopathic community clinic SidebySide – that grew out of the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower fire. I spoke about how an immediate crisis response evolved into long-term, community-centred care, and explored what this experience taught me about healing beyond borders through trust, accessibility, continuity and collaboration.

Taken together, the two days were a reminder of the value of coming together as a profession: to celebrate achievement, to share experience, and to strengthen the connections that support homeopathy into the future. They also reflected the Society’s respected place within the profession, and the importance of continuing to foster high standards, shared purpose and a strong professional community.

Homeopathy Awareness Week is a popular and well established feature in the international health awareness calendar and takes place from 10th – 16th April every year.
