The use of technology in almost every aspect of the modern world is transforming the way we live, including how we access health care.

Whether it's the ability to Skype a doctor in a private clinic or use an app to monitor blood pressure, technology is speeding up and expanding the services we use.

Meanwhile homeopaths, like other specialists, can market themselves to an ever-wider audience via the internet and promote their services on social media to people who might otherwise remain out of reach.

In the latest issue of the Society's journal, New Homeopath (pictured), Celia Clements RSHom explores some of these issues and questions to what extent technology can reproduce or even replace the traditional face-to-face consultation.

Is it possible to develop the same patient relationship that is central to homeopathy care or does it inevitably mean homeopaths' use of intuition is diminished and the holistic connection with the patient is lost?

The article also looks at how 'remote' treatment might affect the potential for healing, the role entanglement theories may play in improving consultations that are not done face-to-face, and considers the ethical implications of using technology to talk to patients.

Is telemedicine the future for homeopathy?

The use of technology in almost every aspect of the modern world is transforming the way we live, including how we access health care.

Whether it’s the ability to Skype a doctor in a private clinic or use an app to monitor blood pressure, technology is speeding up and expanding the services we use.

Meanwhile homeopaths, like other specialists, can market themselves to an ever-wider audience via the internet and promote their services on social media to people who might otherwise remain out of reach.

In the latest issue of the Society’s journal, New Homeopath (pictured), Celia Clements RSHom explores some of these issues and questions to what extent technology can reproduce or even replace the traditional face-to-face consultation.

Is it possible to develop the same patient relationship that is central to homeopathy care or does it inevitably mean homeopaths’ use of intuition is diminished and the holistic connection with the patient is lost?

The article also looks at how ‘remote’ treatment might affect the potential for healing, the role entanglement theories may play in improving consultations that are not done face-to-face, and considers the ethical implications of using technology to talk to patients.
