Location – Office or home based with occasional travel required.

Contract type – Freelance, one day a week for an initial term of 12 months

Salary – £30,000 – £35,000 pro-rata

The Society of Homeopaths is a not-for-profit membership body representing Homeopaths in the UK. It is based in Northampton and has 8 staff. It has recently commissioned a new and innovative website and is now seeking an enthusiastic and organised applicant to play a key role in maintaining and developing the online content.

The website uses WordPress and is aimed at the public, members of the Society including students and professional practitioners, the media, potential students and other complementary therapies and stakeholders. It includes a broad range of material including news and developments in the organisation, member benefits and offers, research news, regulatory news, other complementary medicine news, political news and general health news and updates.

The Online Editor will be responsible for the overall content of the site and will need to ensure all content and marketing is up to date as well as generating new information/stories. This will include writing news pieces (two per week) and soliciting or commissioning content and features (including films and on line learning) from trusted sources. Regular liaison with the Marketing Manager will be needed, as the news content will also be incorporated into the Society’s social media programme.

Key skills and experience required:
  • Excellent online journalism skills covering SEO, meta-data etc.
  • Experience of writing news and copywriting
  • Experience of marketing and design
  • Knowledge of WordPress or similar
  • Knowledge of video for online, basic editing and infographics.
  • Understanding of social media platforms
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
