[post_content] => Fotini Tsandila Kalakou has been appointed general secretary of the European Central Council of Homeopaths (ECCH).

The ECCH representative for the Greek member association HAG for nine years, Fotini has extensive professional experience as a psychologist and has been a practising homeopath both in Greece and in Norway where she now lives.

She has begun a PhD at Stavanger University, focusing on a project to improve the quality and safety of post-hospital supportive care for prostate cancer patients.

Fotini said she was looking forward to working with ECCH associations for the benefit of the homeopathy profession across Europe.

"Together with the other executives we will provide the best possible help to further the homeopathy profession in accordance with ECCH’s values and aims," she said.

The Society of Homeopaths is the only UK register member of the ECCH.

Meanwhile, the International Council for Homeopathy (ICH) – which is made up of ECCH member associations along with NASH America, New Zealand, Kenya and Japan – has registered as a foundation (Stichting) under Dutch law.

This process is an important step for its work internationally as it means that ICH is now registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.

“It has been a long journey to register the ICH and we are glad that we can now move forward with our work,” said Christine Liebing-Gabel of the ICH.
