[post_content] => Funding received from legacies and the activities it helps to support are being highlighted in a new leaflet from the Society.

Community homeopathy clinics and training and support for newly-qualified homeopaths are among projects funded in the last year through money left to the Society in wills. Money also goes towards marketing and campaigning.

"Leaving a gift in your will helps keep homeopathy alive," said Pamela Stevens, the Society's Marketing Manager. "It means we can provide a range of support for members and for the Society's wider aims and every legacy has a positive impact, no matter what the size of the bequest."

Legacies without restrictions are particularly important as they can be deployed to the areas of most need but people are also welcome to specify an activity that they would like their money to support.

"Legacies are at the heart of everything we do," Pamela added. "Money generously left to the Society has enabled us to help set up three community clinics in 2018 as well as put on training and support for junior members and provide a voice for the profession in the media and to government."

The different types of legacy include:
  • A residual legacy – a bequest of part of, or the remainder of, an estate once family has been provided for.
  • A pecuniary legacy – a specified sum of money determined when the will or codicil is written.
  • A specific legacy – the gift of a particular item of value.
