Network with fellow students and meet Society staff.
Conversations with Clients – Karen Allen. Karen is the founder of Homeopathic Tutorials, an on line continuing education resource for homeopaths. In this session Karen will provide advice on effective communication with patients, in particular, three crucial conversations. Conversation One: Us. We meet people who ask what we do, who we are, what we offer. Our answers to those questions can make all the difference between engaging interest and potentially enrolling as a client, or turning people off to our message. It can’t be left to chance and best intentions. Conversation Two: Research. Potential clients and colleagues ask “Is there any research?”. Didn’t Hahnemann say our job is to heal the sick, not bother with theories? Sure there is research, but where to find it, how to use it and what is the real underlying question we are being asked … how do we respond to all that? Conversation Three: Money. How do we discuss fees, payments and finances with ourselves, with our clients? What about sliding scales, discounts, refund requests and taboos about discussing money? In her session Karen will help you with appropriate phrasing and thought constructs you can easily use to approach these conversations with confidence.
Matridonal Remedies – Linda Gwillim. Linda has over 30 years experience as a homeopath and is the Clinical Director at the Welsh School of Homeopathy. Linda’s session will provide a brief overview of the Matridonal remedies – Placenta, Amniotic Fluid, Vermix and Umbilical cords. She will give an insight into each of the remedies, looking at the main characteristic symptoms, themes and therapeutics. She will include case studies for each of these remedies and also look at the relationships between these four remedies.
Patricia Hatherly – Supporting Lactating Mothers. Patricia has been in practice as a homeopath for over 25 years. She has additionally worked for over 40 years as a Breastfeeding Counsellor and Community Educator with the Australia Breastfeeding Association. Patricia’s session will include the treatment of mastitis, breast abscess, galactoecele and nipple vasospasm.
