[post_content] => The Society has launched a new e-learning module designed to help members circumnavigate the high-octane world of advertising and understand the work of the regulatory bodies who decide who can say what, where, and to whom.

The module covers the main agencies, the standards and ethics set out by the Society along with support and advice for practitioners who want to use testimonials and those who offer adjunctive therapies.

Advertising regulations differ according to the sector in which you work; with health matters, the rules are derived from sources including the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and a variety of laws relating to advertising.

The module explores the role of these bodies as well as local trading standards authorities, recommending what action needs to be taken should members be contacted by them.

“As professionals, we all want to ensure that we are promoting homeopathy in a way, which is ethical, factual and reflects the professional standards that we uphold as RSHoms,” says Emma Hayes, Professional Standards Manager.

“The regulation and requirements placed upon homeopaths in terms of what they can say when promoting themselves and their practice pose quite a challenge and the new module is aimed at helping homeopaths promote their businesses effectively.”

The module also contains a survey for members to complete and the Society can also provide personalised advertising compliance support to its members. eLearning is located in the members' area under My Practice/eLearning
