Society members joined colleagues online on 15th April for the Annual General Meeting.

2020 had been a challenging year with the pandemic dominating the focus on a global scale. Chair of the Board Linda Wicks congratulated members for maintaining their practices, supporting each other and for holding the space for healthcare choice for patients

It had been a year of change for the Society. The staff team had responded to the challenge transferring to remote working to ensure the delivery of the full membership service including regular updates around practising safely in line with lockdown government guidelines.

Acknowledgement of the group work operating across the community during lockdown was highlighted to include the community clinics, Society local groups, local independent CPD groups and the online acute service providers.

During the meeting the annual accounts and review of the year were presented to inform members of developments and plans for the year ahead.

The Society Board welcomed new independent directors Rosslyn Stuart, Ann Carlisle and Rob Strange OBE and Suse Moebius was re-elected for a second term.

Ahead of the AGM a members’ discussion session provided an opportunity for individuals to raise questions around all aspects of Society business and debate current issues.

Members thanked the Board for a supportive positive meeting, the update on the past years activity and acknowledged a refreshing new dynamic on the Board with the appointment of the new Independent Directors.
