Nominations are open until Friday January 25 2019 for two vacant seats on the Society's board of directors.

The role requires people to spend approximately one day a month on Society business with support from a professional staff team.

Suse Moebius (pictured), who joined the board in 2018, said she was glad of the chance to take on the challenge.

"Being involved at the heart of the Society, and understanding more and more the level of effort required to provide the efficient operation we are all used to, makes me appreciate what I once took for granted. Since I joined, one central effort has been the new three-year plan – it’s been great to be involved from inception to action."

Working in a team with the board and staff was also a healthy counterbalance to solo practice, she added.

"So many and varied skills and talents come together to make something happen. There aren’t any short-cuts, there’s a lot of paperwork, but working with a committed team for the good of the Society makes it all worthwhile."

Nominees for the two posts must be a RSHom and be nominated by two other RSHoms. They should also:
  • consider the Society to be their professional home
  • understand and embrace the concept of a governance role
  • have a good awareness of professional standards
  • be able to think strategically about the organisation’s growth and development
Candidates will be given the opportunity to post a short film on the members’ area of the website, along with a photograph and a short statement. The role includes a small honorarium and expenses. Closing date for nominations is Friday January 25 2019 and the ballot will be by postal vote only.
