[post_content] => Homeopathic remedies which can help to ease the symptoms of menopause are being highlighted to help women who are currently unable to get their hands on HRT.

A national shortage of HRT - hormone replacement therapy has left many women struggling to cope with hot flushes, mood swings, lethargy and a range of other symptoms.

The shortage reportedly began with supply issues with some brands of HRT. As women were prescribed alternative brands, they also became hard to get hold of.

Clare Relton and Pat Strong provided homeopathic treatment for women who could not take HRT at the Sheffield NHS Community Menopause Clinic for eight years. In an audit of their clinical outcomes, using the Measure Yourself Medical Outcome Profile (MYMOP), women reported significant benefits with the service helping to alleviate symptoms including headaches and tiredness.

“There is evidence that treatment by homeopaths is safe and effective for women who suffer from menopausal hot flushes or insomnia and who do not want to take HRT or cannot take HRT," said Clare.

“As the shortage of HRT continues, women may want to consider homeopathic alternatives which, our study indicated, can help to ease a range of symptoms.”
