[post_content] => The Alliance for Natural Health (ANH) is urging homeopaths and other alternative practitioners to get behind its blueprint for a new sustainable health system in the UK.

It wants the natural health sector to offer a united front and a ‘consensus’ of ideas in order to take on conventional medicine and provide truly transformational ‘bottom-up’ health management.

“A stark divide [between the two sides] does exist and it represents a big barrier to the emergence of sustainable health systems fit for our future,” says the ANH, which claims the Government’s recent NHS ‘prevention plan’ merely ‘skims the surface’ of the issue.

“There’s a bit more to it than just cutting back on alcohol and sugar,” adds the ANH, “and the proposed actions on salt and fat are, in our view, scientifically questionable.”

The ANH is asking individuals and organisations to endorse the blueprint before it is published.

The document suggests the NHS must transform from being essentially a disease management system – dedicated to treating people mainly after they become sick - into part of a larger system equipped to identify and mitigate causes of disease before they take hold.

The proposed sustainable health system would be "one in which the individual becomes much more responsible for maintaining his or her own health."
